The airbrush technology leader was recognized by the Global Beauty & Wellness Awards and the Independent Innovation Awards this year for its latest disruptive device: the BREEZE™ Airbrush.
HOUSTON, Nov. 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — LUMINESS, the market leader in airbrush technology for more than 25 years, is being honored with two prestigious awards for its category-crossing innovation, the BREEZE™, which launched earlier this year. The Independent Innovation Awards named the LUMINESS BREEZE™ Airbrush Makeup System as the Face Product of the Year; the Global Beauty & Wellness Awards (GBWA) recognized the BREEZE™ Airbrush Skincare System as a finalist for Most Innovative Skincare Product, and the BREEZE™ Airbrush Makeup System as a finalist for Most Innovative Makeup Product.
The Independent Innovation Awards and the Global Beauty & Wellness Awards are sought-after recognitions in the beauty space, together receiving more than 3,000 entries this year. Out of this high volume of competitive applications, the LUMINESS BREEZE™ stood out to the judges of both panels for its innovative technology, convenient and streamlined design, and unparalleled results—features that have similarly made the airbrush an immediate hit among the LUMINESS community. Since its launch earlier this year, consumers have reviewed the BREEZE™ as one of their favorite products, with 100% saying that it covered their blemishes and imperfections, and 97% saying that it provided flawless coverage that lasted all day. 94% of reviewers also stated that they would recommend the LUMINESS BREEZE™ to friends.
A leading direct-to-consumer brand, LUMINESS is constantly driving the industry forward in the pursuit of making beauty more convenient, accessible and enjoyable for its customers. LUMINESS has become a force in the beauty space not only for its disruptive airbrush technology, which constantly elevates industry standards, but also for its award-winning airbrush makeup—like the Rose 4-in-1 Airbrush Foundation, which was selected as Foundation Product of the Year by the Independent Innovation Awards in 2021, and new travel-friendly Airbrush Spray Foundation, which gives consumers more flexibility to achieve the superior coverage they know and love from LUMINESS.

customers gave this lip stain a 4.7-star rating and all-around stellar reviews. The water-resistant stain glides onto the lips with a silky matte texture and dries down to a velvety finish. It’s also smudge-proof and long-lasting for up to 18 hours, according to the brand. The formula combines the moisturization of a cream lipstick with the staying power of a stain that won’t feather, bleed or fade away.
If you’re looking for a way to thicken and lengthen the appearance of your natural eyelashes, and mascara isn’t getting the job done, false lashes are an excellent way to get the upgrade you’re seeking. There are a variety of falsies on the market, so you can give those natural hairs a little boost or go for the kind of lashes that will make it look like you’ll fly away if you flutter fast enough. Applying traditional falsies with lash glue isn’t the easiest feat, however. Luckily, magnetic lashes also exist.
Like traditional falsies, applying magnetic lashes involves a lash strip and an adhesive. But the major difference between the two is that the magnetic lashes and adhesive contain magnets so that the two can attach to each other. In fact, the adhesive is not an adhesive at all, in the traditional sense, as it’s not the sticky, tacky substance you may be used to with glue. Many brands have created magnetic liquid eyeliner hybrids so you can create a sharp cat eye and apply the lash. The two-in-one formulas function just like eyeliner, so you can even use it without the lashes if you wanted to.
To find the best of the best, a handful of Luminess editors tried a whole bunch of magnetic. These nine were our favorites.
Luminess Cosmetics Lash Lure Starter Kit in Natural
Without doing too much, the Luminess Cosmetics Lash Lure Starter Kit in Natural will give you those lengthy lashes you’re looking for. If you look closely, you’ll notice the lash has a rounded shape with a mixture of short and long lashes to ensure it blends in with your own lashes. Han loves the fluidity of the brand’s magnetic liner, which made it easy to work with. Plus, “Luminess’s lashes are incredibly lightweight,” she shares.
Nothing puts a finishing touch on an eyeshadow look quite like winged eyeliner—after all, it’s the trend that’s been proven to never go out of style. But there’s a new eyeliner craze on the block that complements the cat-eye look we’ve grown to love instead of threatening to take its place: inner eyeliner. Also referred to as the “reverse cat-eye” or “inverted eyeliner,” inner eyeliner mimics the effect winged eyeliner has on the outer corner of the eye, except on the inner corner.
The trend has spiked in popularity over the last year, proving that beauty buffs are still figuring out new ways to spice up their eye look with precise touches. But because the look involves applying eyeliner so close to the tear duct, finding the right one that doesn’t flake, smudge, or run is key.
Below, find our top eyeliner picks that’ll make achieving the trend a breeze.
Luminess Persuasion Eyeliner
Who said inner eyeliner has to be black? Give your look a nautical twist with Luminess’ head-turning cobalt blue option. It won’t skip, tug, or flake, and its 0.1mm micro-fine felt tip offers best-in-class precision. Plus, it has a unique ability to give the illusion of fuller-looking lashes.
With over 2,000 nominations for the 3rd annual Beauty Innovation Awards, the competition was extremely fierce, and as a winner you’re in great company – some of the winners from other categories include: Concrete Minerals, Glo Skin Beauty, John Paul Mitchell, Nudestix, TULA Skincare, Wander Beauty, Winky Lux and an impressive list of top companies, products and innovations in the Beauty care industry. Winning a Beauty Innovation Award further supports and amplifies your hard work and dedication, while helping to stand out amongst the crowded market.
If you’ve ever looked at a movie star’s makeup and thought, ‘Why can’t mine look like that?’ the answer is probably a simple one — you’re not using airbrush makeup. A technique that sprays makeup onto the skin in a mist form via a powered compressor that allows it to be distributed in an even, lightweight manner, airbrush makeup — which was first used way back in 1959 for Ben Hur — is a well-known Hollywood secret for sheer, natural-looking coverage that won’t settle into fine lines and pores like traditional makeup does. The best airbrush makeup kits, which often include the makeup as well as the machine, take things even further still, with anti-aging, dermatologist-tested products that look great on mature skin.
Includes blush, skin brightening glow, and moisturizer/primer
If you’ve seen one of Luminess’ infomercials on TV, you already know that this low-pressure machineminimizes fine lines, wrinkles, and textured skin to hide acne, skin discoloration, dark circles, bruising, scars, rosacea, and the occasional tattoo. What you may not know is that this machine, which comes with four foundations, a blush, a skin brightener, a moisturizer, and an AC adaptor, has been dermatologist tested — and approved — for use on even the most sensitive of skin types.
Happy customer: “I have skin level: challenging. Whatever difficulty you can think of, I’ve got it: discoloration, sensitivity, dry/flaky patches, oily patches, enlarged pores, fine lines … and on top of that, I prefer a natural makeup look. Now that I’ve tried Luminess Air, I’m a convert. The Luminess foundation formula is water-based, so it doesn’t irritate sensitive skin, and it is long lasting – it sticks around all day without fading, flaking or caking for me. It also floats over pores and fine lines, giving you a flawless finish.”
This medical-grade silicone device “improves how you clean your skin and helps products penetrate better, giving you more rapid results,” says cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Jason Emer of Jason Emer MD in West Hollywood.
For patients who are looking for a more affordable anti-aging solution, Dr. Engleman says, “this is a fantastic tool for reducing signs of aging and contouring the face and neck. I see results in a short time span when my patients use it.”
“Airbrush is quick, effective and sanitary, and gives you a beautiful finish that looks like skin. So, all of those things together make it a no-brainer”…
Everyone will think you have a personal makeup artist.
When you think of airbrush makeup you probably think back to the early 90s and early 2000s when this novel way to put on makeup was at its peak in popularity. Though today the method is mainly used by makeup artists for special events like weddings and costuming, it’s becoming a go-to DIY method for makeup enthusiasts of all levels—and it’s easier to use than you think (when you use the right tools of course).
If you’re not familiar with airbrush makeup it’s basically pouring makeup (in liquid form) into a handheld tool that uses air pressure to push the makeup out so it comes out as a fine mist. “It’s much faster to apply than traditional makeup and much less product on the face too. It feels like nothing on the skin. And most of all, it’s an HD application so you look photoshopped straight from the lens,” says Los Angeles-based makeup artist Melanie Cristescu.
The flawless airbrush effect this method provides is reason enough to give it a try, but it’s not to be overshadowed by the more practical and timely—not to mention hygienic—benefits. “Makeup being pushed out in tiny particles onto your face by air makes blending (which is usually the most challenging part of traditional makeup) almost automatic,” says Tik Tok Beauty creator and airbrush makeup pro Jalyka Smith. “Not having to switch between different brushes for different parts of your face helps you achieve a full face more swiftly.”
Smith has also found that airbrush makeup is a great way to avoid breaking out when applying makeup. “The lack of brushes is a huge help when it comes to acne. Airbrush doesn’t transfer oil, dirt, and bacteria onto your face that traditional makeup brushes do. I have sensitive skin and airbrush makeup has never made me break out,” explains Smith.
You don’t have to be a pro makeup artist to add airbrush makeup into your beauty routine. This method is ideal for everyone no matter your skin type and skill level.
“Airbrush is ideal for so many people; people who hate the feel of makeup on their face because it takes a lot of the fillers out of liquid foundation and applies the pigment, it feels really natural. It’s also great for people with texture and fine lines because it sits on the surface, not sinking into the skin,” says Cristescu. Especially in the heat of summer or when you have to wear a face mask all day airbrush makeup provides full, natural feeling coverage that stays on, requiring little to no touch-ups.
When searching for the right airbrush kit for you it’s important to look for kits and tools that are easy to clean to avoid product buildup that could lead to acne. Perfecting a full face of makeup with an airbrush applicator can take a bit of time so opt for kits with an ergonomic design that is lightweight and easy to hold.
If you’re convinced and ready to level up your makeup routine here are seven expert-loved airbrush makeup kits for easy application and a flawless finish every time.
Luminess Air Basic Airbrush System
Another popular airbrush kit, Luminess promises to use 10x less the amount of foundation as other kits but with the same flawless coverage. The kit includes an applicator and 6 shades of foundation, perfect for those days where you want light coverage for that “your skin but better” look.

While removing bikini-line hair has never exactly been a walk in the park, the pandemic and subsequent salon and spa closures of the last year have truly made it more difficult than ever. Just thinking about at-home waxing immediately brings back (literally) painful memories of teenage experiments gone bad, so it’s no wonder so many of us have turned to the experts when it comes to getting rid of hair down there. But if our split-end-ridden hair and overgrown cuticles have taught us anything in recent months, it’s that we sometimes must take beauty matters into our own hands. Lucky for us, at-home hair removal solutions have come a long way since our middle-school days, and whether you’re after a full Brazilian or are just in need of a little maintenance, there are more options than ever.
Even with a number of new trimmers, electric razors, and devices to choose from, though, the hair and skin on our bikini area is different from that on the rest of the body, and it’s important that we treat it accordingly. When it comes to shaving, Dendy Engelman, MD, a dermatologist in NYC, says the most important (and often overlooked) part of doing bikini hair removal right is how you prep your skin, as well as how you care for it afterwards. With the help of Dr. Engelman’s tips, we break down the do’s and don’t’s of at-home bikini hair removal and the best tools for the job depending on your specific needs and goals.
Always use a shaving cream, gel, or “at least water,” Dr. Engelman says, adding that doing so “greatly reduces the chances of razor burn and irritation.” Find a cream-based shaving cream that, when applied to the skin, softens the hair and follicles so that when a razor goes across the skin, there is less irritation.
If you’re prone to razor bumps and irritation, exfoliate first.
Though it’s true that shaving exfoliates, those prone to irritation will benefit from exfoliating before shaving, too. “It ensures that the hair can cleanly come out, and will smooth skin texture, buffing away dirt that may be clogging your pores and causing inflammation” Dr. Engelman explains. While it might sound a bit odd, using your facial products—be it a cleanser, toner, or peel—on your bikini region before shaving can be a great help, but there are also slightly more site-specific solutions.
Shave in one direction.
“Shaving in all directions increases the chance of razor bumps, irritation, and even ingrown hairs,” Dr. Engelman explains. Her advice? “Shave in the direction of which your hair grows. Shaving against hair growth gives you a closer shave but the blunt-tipped end of hairs can grow back into the skin rather than up and out.” Don’t use a dull razor either. “A dull razor is actually more likely to cut you than a new, sharper razor,” Dr. Engelman says. If you shave every day, the general rule of thumb is to change your razor every two weeks, and if you shave every other day, you should change your blade every three weeks.
Remember to moisturize after.
“It softens the hair and hair follicle, as well as the skin, reducing the chances of ingrown hairs,” Dr. Engelman notes. Your usual body moisturizer will do the trick, but if you feel like treating your bikini line to a little extra something special, try an after-shave balm. If you do cut yourself or have post-shave irritation, Dr. Engelman recommends a standard facial toner. “Look for formulas with ingredients that have anti-inflammatory and soothing properties like aloe, witch hazel, allantoin, or willow bark,” Dr. Engelman recommends.
