We Don’t Want to Brag, but our Mascara is The Best

If the eyes are in fact the window to the soul, then it’s imperative your eye makeup, including eye shadow, brows and yes, even your eyelashes are on point.

Our Mascara is the top of the line and one of our best-selling products by new and repeat customers alike.

The key to great mascara – not only the product but the application – are buildable results. Most professional makeup artists will attest to the fact that you need you apply mascara multiple times, but some mascaras don’t make it easy to add extra applications as they get stuck or are too clumpy. The Luminess mascara is created with buildable results in mind. This mascara is both lengthening as well as curling, providing depth and dimension to your eyes.

Our mascara is long-lasting — up to 18 hours, which is the best on the market — and water-resistant, so it can make it through the day looking flawless, no matter what the day throws your way.

Just like all of our beauty products and cosmetics, our mascara is never tested on animals and is dermatologist tested and recommended, so it’s safe for your skin.

So what are you waiting for? Stock up for yourself and yes – these make excellent stocking stuffers for the upcoming holidays!

Our mascara is currently on sale for $7.99 and it won’t last long!

Metallic Magic

When it comes to summer beauty, it’s all about glow. Whether you prefer light or maximum coverage, you always want the light to hit your skin in the perfect way.

While you can perfectly highlight your face every day with Glow, sometimes, it’s fun to have a little extra sparkle with Metallics. Janey Jessen  created the perfect dewy look for a night out with our Gold Metallic highlighter and gold eye shadow.

“I’m in love with the gold highlighter,” Janey shared. “It’s gorgeous! After using these products for a few months I have to say I’m completely hooked. I love the finish and how light it feels. I don’t really feel like I have makeup on most days.”

Janey prepped her look with our Porcelain primer, X-Out for her blemishes, and Eraser to even out her skin tone. She combined her foundation and concealer for complete perfection, before applying her blush, bronzer and eye shadow. When applying her gold highlighter, she made sure to hit all of the areas of her face that catch the light—nose, cheekbones, chin and forehead—and added subtle shimmer to her lipstick.

“In this tutorial I mostly focused on how to bring radiance through the foundation to give a natural glow, strategically placed strobing, and a pretty shimmery eyeshadow look. I’ve been digging rose gold lately so I used that palette as inspiration. This is definitely a look that can be worn for weddings, date nights, or a night out with the girls. You can also mattify it and wear it anytime! My favorite part of this whole look was using the gold highlighter on my bright pink lipstick. It definitely made the whole look pop and gave it a bit of attitude.”

You can mix in our Metallics with your foundation for a soft shimmer and overall glow. You can also use them to contour and highlight, as a fabulous eye shadow, or to make your lips look extra special like Janey.

Mastering the Blue Eyes Trend

You can’t escape it. Between runways and street style, celebrities and cool girls, blue accenting on the eyes is everywhere.

We know, we know. You’re still recovering from the blue eyeshadow – ed days of the early 2000s. But, this time its different.

Instead of pairing the trend with your hoodie t-shirt, low-rise flare jeans and Doc Martens (bless your junior-high self), try a subtle blue eyeshadow with a cream structured blouse tucked into high-waisted trousers and a neutral heel. It’s a basic, classic look, but, it’s a solid bet for dipping your toe into the blue water.

Make the accent work for your everyday look with a simple blue eyeshadow. No neons, no coloring your waterline. Just a pop of color to show off your sparklers.

For the look below, we used our Airbrush Eyeshadow in Smoke (Shade 20), but if you’re after a nighttime look, try Midnight (Shade 12).

Trends From the SS16 Runways

If there’s one thing we learned from the spring/summer 2016 runways, it’s that this season will be all about a natural look. No makeup makeup, full brows, natural lips and no-fuss eyes are everywhere.

But, for the days when you want a little added color, there’s the Altuzarra look. Using our Eyeshadow Palette, swipe your favorite shade over the lid. Start from the lash line and work up toward your eyebrow. Then, use a brush to blend away any harsh lines.

Getting Selena’s Grammys Look

Last night we saw the giants of the music industry walk the red carpet for the annual Grammys awards show. From Taylor to Adele, talent, style and beauty ran rampant, especially in the case of Selena Gomez. The singer took her “come and get it” mantra to heart with a serious smoky eye, glam waves and killer sexy Calvin Klein slinky, sequin dress in midnight blue.

Fortunately, you don’t have to be a Hollywood starlet to get red carpet glamour.

  1. After applying your silk foundation, contour with bronzer. Hold the airbrush stylus roughly six inches away from your temple, just in front of the center of your ear. Using a gentle sweeping motion, brush the color down toward the corner of your mouth.
  2. Apply a light iridescent shadow to the inner corners of your eye, and just below the brow.
  3. Using a good black eye liner, trace your upper lid. Start at the center, then work outwards in a dramatic cat eye. Finish the line from the center to the inner corner. Repeat on the bottom, blending away harsh lines.
  4. Fill in the negative space between your liner and your light shadow with a dark bronze or purple shadow. Blend for a seamless transition.
  5. Finish the look with two coats of mascara and a statement brow.

Practice a few times before wearing this out, so you can be sure to nail the technique. You can get everything you need for this look on our website Luminess Beauty

The Perfect Summer Smokey Eye

Putting together perfect summer makeup looks that provide the “WOW” factor is easy. All it takes is a little creativity and the use of a color that will sizzle from start to finish. Eye shadow is an easy way to draw attraction to your eyes without overpowering your face. If applied correctly, you can create daily looks that will keep you on the radar for stunning eyes. Choosing the right colors that blend with your skin tone is key. You also want to have colors that are able to effortlessly blend into any setting.

While there are a number of summer colors that will attract attention, for the look of a professional makeover, you want to use the color bronze. Bronze eye shadow is versatile, sexy, and works with every eye color to deliver stunning looks that quickly go from day to night.

No matter what the event or setting, this look will integrate with any outfit to set a new standard in summer makeup looks. This combination works in the office or at dinner. Here are a few tips to create the perfect summer smokey eye:

  • Using a medium bronze color, apply the shadow from the lash line to the crease. Make sure to watch the application and not be too heavy-handed. This sets the foundation for the look and gives you an idea of whether or not you want to have a darker or lighter effect.
  • Using a good black eye liner, smoothly darken the lash line, blending upward. Repeat this process underneath the lash line for a dramatic effect that will make your eyes pop.
  • Apply a shimmer shadow. You can create your own by blending a copper shadow a few shades lighter than the bronze across the top lid to add dimension.
  • Create depth by outlining the existing shadow application with a matte brown color starting from the inner corner, traveling around the entire eye.
  • Apply two coats of Luminess Infinity Long Wear Black Mascara to finish the look.

You can repeat this process until you get the technique right. You may want to add a little variety for a light or dark smokey eye to fit the occasion. These tips will help you create beautiful eyewear looks that will blend perfectly with your beauty cocktails foundations for a flawless finish. Using the Luminess airbrush system will assist in fooling even the best of critics. Having beautiful eyes can make a difference in your confidence and presentation. Using this technique will add to your collection of winning eye looks. Just because you aren’t a professional doesn’t mean you can’t have professional looks. We’ve given you the formula – you can take it from here to achieve results that work for you.

Cool Ways to Use Concealer

The beauty industry makes their profit from a variety of products, but there are a few items that have multiple uses. Concealer is a beauty staple that can be used in a variety of ways. Most women use concealer to cover blemishes, dark circles or skin tone that may appear uneven. Concealer is used underneath or on top of the application of Beauty Cocktails foundation with the Luminess airbrush system. Although this is the general use, there are a few other beauty secrets and ways to use foundation that most people don’t know. Here are a few beauty tips that will enhance your beauty regimen while keeping your budget intact:

Longer Lasting Lipstick

You can use concealer on the lips to make your lipstick last longer. Evenly apply a light coat prior to putting on your lipstick and let it dry. This will help your lipstick color pop and reduce feathering while adding a level of dimension to your lips. You will achieve the appearance of fuller lips without the need for eye liner.

Deeper, Fuller Lashes

You can use concealer as a lash thickener or primer prior to applying your coats of Infinity Long Lash Mascara. This will condition your eyelashes and help deepen the color. Apply the concealer with a clean lash brush, extending the concealer to the tips. This adds volume and depth with immediate results.

Natural Eye Shadow

Concealer can be used as a natural eye shadow to give your eyes a quick pop without the use of color. This will provide a smooth, neutral finish that will accentuate the eyes. Finish up with mascara and liner for an everyday look that works.

Beautiful Skin Highlighter

Concealer can be used to highlight your blush for a rosy finish. There are two ways to do this:

  • You can dot the area with a few drops of concealer, blending it into the skin. Add a powder blush to the area with a blush brush for a great finish.
  • Blend cream blush and concealer together to add a warm finish to your face. This will provide a toned, natural highlight while providing the illusion of an inner glow.

Knowing the different ways to use beauty products can work wonders when you’re on the go or you only have certain products in your makeup bag. Concealer is a product that can help enhance those on-the-go trips or emergency situations when you need a refresher and don’t have access to your beauty tools. Being creative with certain products like concealer can help you in a pinch while still giving you the quality looks of a professional makeover.

These are just a few cool ways that concealer can enhance your beauty secrets and feel like a pro. When putting together your makeup bag, you won’t have to have a bunch of products to get the same result – you can just use one!

Creative Ways to Line Your Lids

When wearing eye makeup, there are a number of creative ways to add a dramatic flair that will attract attention to your eyes. Eye liner offers a variety of colors and options that will help enhance your eyes for a different look every day. For some cool, creative looks, here are a few options:

Cat Eye
This is also known as an elongated eye. Using a cream liner, draw a line from the middle of your lashline to the outer edge of the eye. Apply the liner at the corner of the waterline, connecting the tip.

Winged Tip
Apply the liner with an angled brush from the inside of the top lid, outward at a 45-degree angle. Voila!

Bright Eyes
Apply light beige liner to your waterline (lower inner rim) to make your eyes look larger and brighter while alleviating tired and red eyes.

Colored Bottom Liner
Make a statement by using a bright colored eye liner with a long wear pencil. Apply the liner to your waterline to make your color last for hours. 10-second beauty at your service!

Lining Upper Inner Rim with Black to Define Lash Line
This is a part of the eye that is most neglected, but can draw quite a bit of attention to the definition of your eyes with a natural look. Lift your upper lid while looking down at a mirror and quickly apply with a few strokes for this unique look.

Smudged Wrap Around
Like the smoky eye look? This is a quick and easy way to achieve it. Using a black kohl pencil and an angled brush, line your lower inner rim and place a lint along your upper lash line from one side to the other. Connect the lines at the edge. With the brush, smudge the lines around the eye until it meets your satisfaction.
