Beyoncé entranced onlookers…thanks to Sir John, and The Lion King Makeup Collection

The Best Beauty Instagrams of the Week: Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, and More

A few serious eye looks made their way onto the feeds of Instagram this past week. Beyoncé entranced onlookers at the Lion King Premiere in London with gold-flecked lids, blushed cheeks, and a sheer lipstick, thanks to her trusted makeup artist, Sir John, and his Lion King makeup collection for Luminess Cosmetics. Meanwhile makeup artist Anne Sophie Costa showed off her steady-handed skills on model Yoon Young Bae with a double-winged obsidian liner. Artists Jenna Kristina and Laurie Heaps made a playful statement on Rowan Blanchard with neon green shadow in the inner corners of her eyes, a liquid flick of liner, and a pinned-down pixie cut.

Speaking of eyes, rapper Megan Thee Stallion stepped out with rose gold lids and a flawless foundation, while wavy tresses brought the look together. On a similar wave (pun intended), a couple beauties showed off defined ringlets: Pose star Indya Moore snapped a golden hour shot with glowing skin and a note that she’s “feeling grateful for love.” Hairstylist Lacy Redway worked her magic on actress Zazie Beetz, whose crown of chestnut coils elegantly framed her shimmering skin and rosy cheeks.

Muses worldwide embraced the summer sun, as they are wont to do when July fades into August. A beachside Kelsey Lu rocked silver-streaked braids and turquoise brows in Martha’s Vineyard. Alicia Keys made some time for a little outdoor meditation, and model Behati Prinsloo showed off her wake-surfing skills. Jada Pinkett-Smith spread some of her magic on a boat in Greece: bronzed skin, a smile, and a reminder that a joyful “hot girl summer” is still in full effect.

Beyonce and Blue Ivy Rock Stunning ‘Lion King’-Inspired Outfits to Tina Knowles’ Gala

Beyonce is definitely embracing her role in the upcoming Lion King remake!

The multiplatinum singer attended her mother, Tina Knowles Lawson’s, annual Wearable Art Gala in Santa Monica, California, on Saturday night, where she chose an ensemble that clearly nods to the new Disney film. Bey voices Nala, Simba’s (Donald Glover) love interest.

The GRAMMY winner wore a glittering gold catsuit featuring an ornately designed lion’s head across the bodice. Filling out the big cat’s mane are rows of gold feathers. The outfit also includes a long gold cape, which the songstress proudly displays a in series of Instagram photos.

Along for the fun was Beyonce’s 7-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who wore a billowing yellow dress with colorful detailing and a matching headpiece for the gala. And if there’s any doubt as to where they drew their inspiration for their looks, a video was also posted featuring Blue Ivy singing along to “Circle of Life,” a classic track from the animated 1994 Disney film.

There’s no denying that Tina seemingly encouraged her daughter’s choice. The theme for this year’s gala is “A Journey to the Pride Lands.” A group of lions in nature is referred to as “a pride.”

Along with the release of the film, Disney has collaborated with Luminess Cosmetics and Sir John, Beyonce’s longtime makeup artist, for a limited-edition collection inspired by the movie. ET recently spoke with John about tackling the project and the nerve-racking experience of getting feedback from Beyonce.

“I think that even when I called Bey and I said, ‘Hey, listen, this is what’s happening,’ I was kind of nervous to see what she thought, but she was so proud and so happy for me,” he shared. “So I feel like this is gonna be a win.”

The stunning, highly pigmented earthy shades are named after places and characters from the film. Each palette and lipstick features etched portraits of Mufasa, Simba’s father, and the shades boast a tribal embossed pattern.

“So I spent a lot of time in South Africa, so Luminess and I wanted to do something that really reflects not just the landscape and sunset and all of those things that are just natural and organic, but tribal prints as well,” the makeup artist explained. “I really wanted to nail it and really hit it hard with the movie and I feel like this runs quite parallel with where the movie is as well.”

The collection will be available on Luminess’ site on June 15. The Lion King roars its way to theaters on June 19.

Beyonce’s make-up artist creates The Lion King-inspired beauty range

Beyonce’s make-up artist Sir John has teamed with Disney to create a The Lion King-inspired make-up line.

The beauty guru’s most famous client voices the role of Nala in Jon Favreau’s live-action remake of the double Oscar-winning 1994 animated classic.

And to mark the movie’s release, Disney has recruited Sir John for a special cosmetics project.

“Disney first approached me last August, just as I was wrapping up (reality TV competition show) American Beauty Star,” Sir John told The Hollywood Reporter. “They told me (Beyonce) was voicing Nala and asked if I’d be interested in doing a line of cosmetics for them.

“I was kind of like, ‘She’s sold separately.’ But they said, ‘No we want to work with you, and we want you to license it and find a partner to produce the collection.’”

Reaching out to Luminess Cosmetics, a brand known for its airbrush technology, Sir John began work on the collection – which is made up of an eyeshadow palette, sculpting set, highlighter lipsticks and lip balms, all named after some of The Lion King’s most famous songs.

Each item is encased in packaging made from etched enamel showing a lion’s face, with Sir John explaining how freeing it was to design around an animal and not a princess.

“It was actually a plus, because I didn’t have a character limiting my creativity… I didn’t have to design a collection for Cinderella,” he mused. “I also think women appreciate the grace and beauty of big cats, whether it’s a jaguar, leopard or cheetah. They are so regal and so dangerous but have a feminine quality that speaks to my clients, who are strong women.”

The collection will launch on 15 June on Luminess Cosmetics’ website, with prices starting at $24 (£19).

The film, which also features the vocal talents of Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen and Chiwetel Ejiofor, hits cinemas from 17 July.

The Lion King Is Getting Its Very Own Makeup Collection

Sir John partnered with Luminess to create the range.

For months, Sir John, aka Beyoncé’s makeup artist, has been teasing something special. Back in February, Sir John announced that he had two makeup licensing deals, and until now, no one knew exactly when the projects would appear or just how fierce they’d be. As of today, however, we can announce that Sir John has partnered with Luminess Cosmetics for a Lion King makeup collection. Roar, am I right?

With Beyoncé in the role of Nala, it’s only fitting that Sir John is the one turning The Lion King into a series of beauty products that will bring out your inner jungle cat. And if previous Disney-inspired collections like M.A.C. Aladdin and Colourpop Disney Villains are any indication, it’s going to be a hell of a lot of fun to treat our inner child to some beautiful makeup.

Disney’s The Lion King Limited Edition Collection by Sir John x Luminess contains all the makeup a grown-up Disney kid could want. It’s packaged with classic imagery from the movie, like close-ups of Nala, Simba, and the iconic standing-on-a-cliff moment, and the lipstick tubes each close to reveal a lion — perfect for Leo season.

First up are the palettes, plural. The Kingdom Sculpting Palette ($42) contains six shades of contouring and complexion-brightening magic. (Lions do have a sculpted face shape, when you think about it.) The colors include a muted pink blush, a red-brown, two shades of medium brown, and one deep brown. They’re each named after favorite Lion King characters, like Pumbaa and Marula. If you prefer to focus on glow, opt for the large-pan Circle of Life Highlighter ($40), a shimmering golden pink.

With your face carved like the cliffs of Simba’s kingdom, draw your attention upward with the Can’t Wait to be Queen Eye Shadow Palette ($42). The 12 shades contain all the bronze and brown colors of a lion’s mane, from matte brick to shimmery yellow and gold. There are even more shimmers in green, blue, and a regal purple that, I’ll tell you right now, every Leo in your life is going to love. It looks like a six-six split of shimmer and matte pans, perfect for everything from a muted Lion King movie night look to a head-turning Lion King on Broadway look.

Next, we’ve got lip products in matte, liquid, and tinted balm form. Be Brave Matte Lipstick ($24) is a badass bullet embossed with lion scratches. It comes in two shades: Lion’s Mane (neutral, nude pink) and Pounce (bright orange-red). Be Prepared Liquid Lipstick ($24) is a highly-pigmented gloss, also available in two shades of red (a deeper red this time) and brown (a very ’90s rich, dark brown.) Finally, the Legacy Tinted Lip Balm ($24) is perfect for any Lion King lover in your life, or just toss it in your bag to channel some Nala energy for your summer.

The collection will drop on Luminess Cosmetics’ website on June 15, ulta and disney on June 16, and hit Ulta stores on July 1. That’s plenty of time to play around with the products before the movie arrives in theaters on July 19.

Beyoncé’s Makeup Artist Sir John Has Teamed Up With Disney and Luminess Cosmetics for a “Lion King” Makeup Collection

Be prepared, beauty lovers: a Lion King makeup collection is coming, and it’s fit for royalty.

As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, Beyoncé’s makeup artist Sir John has teamed up with Disney and Luminess Cosmetics for an eight-piece collection inspired by the iconic film, which is getting a live-action reboot this summer.

According to a press release, the collection pulls inspiration from the film itself, but also African culture. Sir John further explained in conversation with THR: “I was inspired while on safari in South Africa for Global Citizen, and I remember looking at how warm and rich the colors were, and I didn’t need to look any further than the landscape.” The designer added that the Lion King characters provided a unique opportunity for creativity, and he tried to capture the regal beauty and danger of lions and other big cats.

Bustle reports that the collection will be available on June 15 on LuminessBeauty.com, and will also be available online at Ulta’s website the following day. Shoppers will be able to purchase the Lion King collection at select Ulta locations beginning July 1, just in time for the highly anticipated movie, which hits theaters on July 19.

The collection itself can be previewed on Luminess’s website, and the popular Instagram account TrendMood also recently posted a breakdown of what makeup lovers can anticipate. Products range in price from $24 to $42, and each piece has a cute name referencing the classic Disney tale, such as the Be Brave Lipstick in Pounce or Lion Mane ($24), and the Circle of Life highlighter ($40). The collection also includes two palettes: the Kingdom Sculpting Palette for highlighting and contouring ($42), and the Can’t Wait to Be Queen Eyeshadow Palette ($42) featuring an array of peach and brown shades, along with deep emerald, a shimmering violet, and more majestic hues. Of course, there’s an option to purchase the entire vault for $250 if you can’t choose.

Like the reign of a king, this makeup collection is only going to be around for a limited time, so make sure you get your hands (or should I say paws) on it before it’s all gone.

If you’re like Us, you’re anxiously awaiting the premiere of The Lion King starring

Donald Glover as the voice of Simba, Beyoncé as Nala and more. And, while we’ve still got a bit of time until the film hits theaters July 19, Queen Bey’s makeup artist, Sir John, stopped by the Us Weekly studios to share a first look at his Disney’s The Lion King Limited Edition Collection by Sir John x Luminess. cosmetics line and offer some tips on how to use the safari-inspired products. Check it out the video above!

“With this Disney movie, there are no characters who are human. There are only animals,” the pro tells Us. “I had to imagine what would Nala look like if she was an actual woman.”

Calling the collection (which launches on LuminessCosmetics.com on June 15) “a labor of love,” Sir John explains that he was influenced by the “landscape in Africa” when creating the eye, face and lip shades in the range.

The jewel tone colors in the Can’t Wait to be Queen Eyeshadow Palette, for instance, draw from hues “you find in nature,” while the natural matte tones in the Kingdom Sculpting Palette call to mind the arid desert landscape. Oh, and they all just so happen to be perfect for creating a summery daytime eye makeup look.

Using a small fluffy brush, Sir John first applied the matte Safari Khaki shade along the lash line and all over the eyelid to create a neutral base and provide “a tiny bit of kick.” A hint of the metallic taupe Nala hue on the center of the lid and slightly darker Pride Rock on the corner added shimmer, depth and dimension.

These Airbrush Foundations Are The Next Best Thing to Professional Makeup

If you’re like us, an airbrushed foundation application immediately brings to mind swirling images of “I dos,” HD news anchors, red carpets, movie stars, and other professional photo and video ops. Which, to be honest, feels a little intimidating. Of course, we would love to have the flawless finish said events and subjects necessitate or wear, but the mere idea of mastering the art of applying airbrush foundations has us balking at the least and running for the hills at the most. Are we alone here?

The airbrush technique has been around for decades (fun fact: airbrush makeup was first used in 1955 Hollywood on the actors of Ben-Hur), yet it still has a firm foothold within the makeup industry. Lately, our curiosity has been getting the better of us. Which airbrush foundations are the best? We did the research to find the eight formulas offering the most pristine, non-detectable finishes at the most feasible dollar amounts. Keep scrolling. Flawless, airbrushed complexions await.

With a litany of different airbrush sets and product types to choose from, Luminess is another big name within the airbrush realm. To keep things simple, we love this appropriately named basic system which features your choice of two different foundations (to ensure a spot-on color match!), an airbrush compressor and stylus, AC adapter, one blush, one highlighter, and the brand’s helpful one-year warranty.

Real Women Say These Are the Best Hair Removal Products on Amazon

by LINDSEY METRUS

Pricey waxing appointments, frequent passes with a razor, and tweezing with abandon all make the hair removal process more of a burden than just a usual step in your beauty routine. No matter your goals, whether slight maintenance or total clean-up, removing stubble and peach fuzz should be as painlessly ritualistic as applying your skincare.

This editor is a huge fan of this battery-operated mini hair removal device, perfect for discretely removing upper-lip hair without ever touching a blade directly to the skin. Sonic technology targets the hair and wicks it away while a protective blade cover keeps your skin from getting nicked.

Standout review: “I should have ordered initially instead of going with another brand. I love this. it performs exactly as it says.”
